No worries! Thanks to Weruva® and their new dry dog food line, they make it simple for us dog parents to see where our dog's nutrition and calories should come from.

WeRuVa has been a family-owned pet food manufacturer for 10 years, focusing heavily on quality ingredients and ethical practices. They have gained the trust and loyalty of pet parents through their super-premium canned foods and now through their new line of dry dog food, Caloric Melody and Caloric Harmony.
Today we are super excited to introduce you to this new line of low-carb kibble. For the past several weeks Bruin has been enjoying the Caloric Melody - Chicken Dinner with Lentils. We slowly transitioned him onto this food and we are happy to say he is loving it!
Where Should Calories Come From?
Your dog derives nutrition from three sources:
1. Protein 2. Fat 3. Carbohydrates
Protein should be the predominant source of the three.
Both of the Caloric Melody and Caloric Harmony formulas have protein that provides the majority of calories and nutrition. The difference between the two formulas is that Harmony provides 80% animal-based protein while Melody provides 70% animal-based protein.
As you can see in the photo above, more calories come from Protein than Fat and more calories come from Fat than Carbs. A perfect formula that any Carnivore would approve!
Not so fast, Bruin! We need to talk about what's in the bag before you can eat! |
What's In The Bag?
When it comes to choosing a dog food the first thing I look at is the ingredient list on the back of the bag. Below, I've highlighted a few ingredients that jumped out at me so let's go over them!
- De-boned chicken is cage-free and a great protein source with amino acids to help support and maintain lean muscle mass.
- Green Peas, Lentils and Chickpeas are low glycemic load and helps maintain steady energy levels
- Salmon Oil for a healthy skin and coat
- Pumpkin is wonderful for digestion
- Seaweed is added for natural prebiotic action.
This was our first experience with Lentils and Seaweed and I am happy to report they we have had absolutely no problems. As a 2 year old, Bruin has a ton of energy and I'm happy to give him something that will maintain his energy levels and muscle mass.

Caloric Melody and Caloric Harmony are both fit for all life stages, low fat, low ash content and gluten free. They are BRC approved - highest standards for quality control & food safety.
What's the Difference?
Caloric Melody vs Caloric Harmony
It's quite simple! Both formulas have protein which provides the majority of your dog's calories. Harmony has a higher meat content inclusion than Melody, while Melody provides a comparable nutrition at a lower price point.
Caloric Melody comes in three dinner choices:
- Chicken Dinner with Lentils
- Chicken, Turkey and Salmon Dinner with Lentils
- Lamb Dinner with Lentils
Caloric Harmony also comes in three dinner choices:
- Chicken Dinner with Pumpkin
- Chicken, Turkey and Salmon Dinner with Pumpkin
- Venison and Salmon Meal Dinner with Pumpkin
Chicken is cage-free, the Lamb and Venison are grass-fed, and the Salmon is humanely sourced. Now that deserves a paws up for WeRuVa!!
Here's a bonus! The bag has a velcro closure to keep food fresh and wandering noses out!

I wonder if this bag is Golden-Proof? |
