Our Gift-Giving Dog

Don't be jealous but we have a gift-giving dog.

His name is Bruin and he loves bringing in little tiny rocks from the garden every day.

A few weeks ago, we decided to start him his very own rock collection.

After carefully choosing his rock, he picks it up with his front teeth, carries it into the house and gently drops it at our feet.

Although, I haven't quite figured out the significance of his gift-giving, I am very flattered.

As I stated earlier, please don't be jealous!

We are joining the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, hosted by Alfie's Blog, My Brown Newfies & Snoopy's Dog Blog.

  5. Bruin is one beautiful golden!! Oh, how I would love to add one to my family! I am very curious as to why Bruin collects rocks...but the good news is that he collects them ... instead of EATING them!! Maybe he thinks he is giving you a gift each time! Love your photos!!

  7. Maybe you need to do and experiment to see if this is just a retriever thing.

Put about a dozen tennis balls in the yard and see if he still brings you rocks or if she switches over to balls when they're available.

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

  8. That is SO sweet! I love it! Maybe you can take some of the rocks and glue them onto a photo frame and make a special keepsake frame with all your gifts (and featuring Bruin's photo, of course)!

  12. How sweet, it's great that he is putting them in a container. They would hurt if your humans step on them! :) Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  16. That is the sweetest thing ever. ♥ It is a sign of love. I know because I still have a basket of rocks that my son used to bring me all of the time. He was always so proud. I'm sure that Bruin thinks that you appreciate the gesture. ☺

  17. That's adorable. Maybe he's part penguin. Male penguins bring rocks to a female they want as a mate.

  21. What a sweetie. Kilo collects stuff but he does not give it to us, he stashes his loot in his crate. He prefers collecting socks and dirty tissues to rocks. The rock collection looks cute.

  22. What a beautiful thing. I do wonder why he does it, but regardless it's a gift that he seems proud to give you, and that is special.
